Copynotes: St Andrews copy bound in 19th century calf on boards, with double gilt ruled and double blind ruled central panel with blind-rolled floral border and gold-stamped fleurons to corners all within a gold tooled border with gold-stamped florettes to corners on both boards, spine with five raised bands with each spine panel tooled in gold and with spine title stamped in gold in second compartment, with board edges tooled in gold and with turn-ins with triple blind rule, with edges of text block sprinkled red and with marbled endpapers. Condition notes: Corners rubbed, edges worn, hinges starting.
Editionnotes: Colophon (leaf K4r): London. Printed by T.C. for William Ponsonbie. 1595. T.C. is Thomas Creede-cf. STC. Signatures: A-K⁴. Title within ornamental border, with printer's device (51 x 40 mm) on title page, with Latin mott: "Viressit vvenere veritas" and with initials "TC". In verse. Dedication to Sir Walter Raleigh (leaf A2). The laments on the death of Sir Philip Sidney are by Raleigh, Mathew Roydon and Lodowick Bryskett. Woodcut head- and tail-pieces, initials. St Andrews copy is issue with line 24 of leaf C1r reading "worthylie".
